WaterFest and The Big Boy

After taking an unintentional hiatus from blogging, we're back. It feels like we've been sprinting through summer - the benchmarks of a summer's end are near - the pool by our house will be closing within a week, and we're starting to receive welcome letters in the mail from the boys' preschool for starting this fall.

But for now it's still summer, and this weekend we took the boys to WaterFest in Lenexa. We tolerated near hundred degree heat to let the boys romp in firehose spray and slip down a waterslide. I think their favorite activity, though, was visiting the balloon man.

In child development news, Alex is now a "big boy" as he calls himself. Last week, we packed the baby crib away for the first time in nearly 5 years as Alex moved into a big boy bed. David and I braced ourselves for the worst, but surprisingly, it's going well. I'm sure the novelty of it will wear off soon, though.
