No Cash, Please
Jack and Alex recently damaged the upstairs bedroom wall by throwing their GeoTrax train pieces up against it. When David and I discovered the dented and paint-scraped wall and the boys immediately fessed up, we explained to them that they would need to help pay for fixing the wall (they were less than thrilled).
Later in the week, we were out celebrating David's birthday with my parents and, out of the blue, Jack lets Grandma Sue and Papa know that he doesn't need any money for his birthday (which isn't until September, but he's already thinking ahead to future potential income he might get) and that just toys would be fine, thanks. I couldn't believe his cleverness to avoid paying his dues at just five years old - just hard assets please!
