License To Drive

Just some pictures of the boys driving their wheels on our driveway.

No More Ink

It finally happened. Today is the first day of a binky-free Alex. We've been realizing that the need for Alex to kick the binky habit was quickly approaching, and today just seemed like the right day. Many tears have been shed (and not just by Alex - yes, I've gotten attached to him having his ink as well) But we'll make it.

He Really Does Love His Brother

Every night when tucking Jack and Alex into bed, we encourage the boys to tell each other goodnight. Alex is happy to wave bye to Jack, but Jack always turns his head away and says nothing. However, last night Jack fell asleep on the couch early. After awhile, I scooped Jack up to carry him to bed. As I laid him in his bed, he opened is eyes and groggily said, "Mom, give Alex a hug goodnight for me." He immediately fell back asleep. It made me smile. He really does love his brother.

Alex's New Friend

Alex has a new friend. It's the answering machine. Tonight, he discovered that if he pushes the right button, he can get the man in the machine to talk to him. Of course, he thinks it's a real person. He carries on a coversation with him, pushes a couple of buttons to get his friend to respond and then "hangs up." I think there's a real friendship growing here.

Don't Mess With Alex...

Today the boys and I ventured to Sar-Ko-Par Park for a little sunshine and exercise - we're enjoying near 80-degrees weather here and a trip to the playground seemed in order. Everything was going smoothly - Jack was challenging himself to climb "Rock Mountain" and Alex was having repeated fun climbing the stairs, crossing the bridge and sliding down the twisty slide. Being such a nice day, the park was fairly crowded, but all was well. UNTIL - Alex was in the process of climbing back up the stairs to slide once again down the twisty slide when a little boy, named Duncan (I quickly learned his name - his mom was constantly yelling from the park bench "Duncan, NO! Duncan CAREFUL! Duncan, WATCH OUT!) comes zooming past Alex on the stairs and pushes Alex down. I honestly think it was unintentional, but Alex wasn't as forgiving. He immediately stood himself back up and surveyed the playground for the "meanie" who knocked him over. I saw him look directly at Duncan and, scrunching his face up, he started shaking his finger at Duncan yelling what I'm sure were not nice words (luckily no one can yet fully understand him). Alex actually got so tiffed that he demanded we leave the park. Yes, we'll be working on anger management...
